The Rouge neighbourhood is nestled between the Metro Toronto Zoo on the north, the Rouge River Valley on the east and Highway 401 to the south. The natural beauty of this area quickly comes into focus along Sheppard Avenue, which provides a spectacular view of the Rouge River Valley. Bus service along Sheppard Avenue East connects passengers to the Sheppard Station on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line. Motorists enjoy convenient access to Highway 401 from Sheppard Avenue and Highway 2 off Port Union Road. These two highways provide commuters with a variety of options, with connecting routes leading into and out of the city. The Abbey Lane Shopping Centre, located off Rylander Boulevard, features a large supermarket, a Canadian Tire store, a pharmacy, banks, restaurants, a cleaners, a pet store, a hair salon, a post office, and an indoor children’s playground. The Tall Pines Park and Neighbourhood Centre is located at 64 Rylander Boulevard a, across from the Abbey Lane Shopping Centre. This is a modern facility with community meeting rooms. The Rouge Community Park, conveniently situated in the middle of this neighbourhood, is ideal for a short nature hike or picnic and also features a baseball diamond. Further west of the Rouge Community Park is Dean Park, another naturalized park that features tennis courts. Rouge Park, which forms the eastern boundary of this neighbourhood , is popular with nature enthusiasts, hikers, joggers, and cross country skiers. It is also the site of the Glen Rouge campground, which has over one hundred camp sites. Access to this park is located east of Sheppard Avenue off Kingston Road.
